A 20 year old student of the university of Ibadan named Gbadebo Richard,  has been found dead just few minutes before his shift was over on Tuesday morning.

According to Intel, Gbadebo Richard,  prior to his death was a student from the department of European studies, University of Ibadan. Unibadan as it is fondly called are on their second semester break but are yet to resume due to the outbreak of covid-19.

In the mean time pending the time school will resume, the young undergraduate took it upon himself to get a job to make some money. He eventually got a job with WAW Nigeria and was working as a factory worker in their factory located in Ibadan.

While making enquiries about what happened a woman whose identity has been withdrawn revealed that the 20 year old boy was on a night shift and was supposed to close by 7am in the morning.

The accident however happened in the morning around 6:39 to 6:45am when he went to pour powder in the mixing machine. In the process of pouring the powder, the powder bag got stuck.

In the process of trying to drag the powder bag so as to prevent it from entering the machine and mixing with soap, he got trapped and the machine roped him in.

Initially, available factory workers at that moment didn’t know until it got to the packaging department where they saw that the content was mixed with blood. On getting to the mixing site, all that was left of the 20 year old undergraduate was Just his legs.

There has been a lot of news going on about the issue. According to Peter Alawode the General Secretary of the faculty of Arts University of Ibadan, the Student Union president and other notable leaders will dialogue over the next course of action after his burial which will be taking place today or tomorrow.

He wrote via his twitter timeline

“Today, we lost a shining star, Richard was a student of European Studies, UI. He took up a factory job with @wawnigeria Ibadan Factory because of this corona stagnation! This morning he had a machine accident that claimed his life.

Rest on Richard. He was 20!”

After his burial tomorrow, I (erstwhile General Secretary of the Faculty of Arts) the student union president UI and other student leaders present will dialogue on the next point of action to seek that the parent company Henkel Nigeria Limited, producers of WAW detergent and soap does not ‘let things slide”
