(CRIME) Three Brothers Killed Widow, Dumped Her In Soakaway, Took Over Her Belongings (Pictures)

Published by on June 5th, 2020.

The human mind is deep and full of evil. Human beings are unpredictable and someone you look up to as a friend can betray you without batting an eyelid.

The story of three brothers who kidnapped a widow, murdered her, took over her car, and have the gut to contact her family members demanding for a N5 million ransom shows how wicked human minds can be.

Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya, 55, was a Facebook friend of Johnson Emmanuel, 38 and oldest of the three Emmanuel brothers who committed the heinous crime. The other two Emmanuel brothers in the crime are: 31 years old Gideon Emmanuel and Success Emmanuel, 27, all natives of Isiekenesi, Ideato Local Govenrment Area of Imo State.

Sounding like a lover boy, Johnson had lured Janet, a native of Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State to his house. Janet lived in Gwagwalada. On Thursday, 14 May, 2020, she took a seemingly innocuous decision by driving all the way from her residence to Wumba District, Lokogoma area of Abuja where death was waiting for her in the shape of somebody she called a friend.

On reaching Johnson’s residence, she was entertained with refreshment, a cup of yoghurt but laced with drug.

With the help of his other brothers, Johnson had Janet killed and dumped her body in a soakaway pit. Not finished with her, Johnson picked her phone and called her family demanding for a N5 million ransom.

The deadly brothers weren’t finished yet: they took her Toyota Highlander Jeep to a mechanic workshop, had its colour changed, had the ownership transferred to Johnson. They even sold off Johnson’s house where the murder took place and headed back home in Isiekenesi to enjoy their ill-gotten wealth. They thought they were home and dry.

But they never reckoned with the competence and investigating skills of police operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

Members of this particular arm of the police force swung into immediate action when Janet’s son, Chinedu Ogbonnaya reported to the police that his mother had been kidnapped and a ransom of N5 million is being demanded as ransom for her release.

The trio of Johnson, Gideon and Success Emmanuel were arrested in their hometown where they fled to after committing the heinous crime in Abuja.

In the course of police interrogation, they  confessed that Janet had been killed and buried in a soakaway pit even before they demanded for ransom.

On Thursday, 4 June, 2020, they took the police to the house where the deceased was buried in a soakaway pit. The corpse was exhumed for autopsy and has been deposited at the University Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada.

The Inspector-General of Police, M.A Adamu, while commending the operatives for a job well done, reassures that perpetrators of any form of crimes in the country will not go undetected and unpunished. He however enjoins citizens to be more security conscious and report any suspicious activities within their neighbourhood to the nearest police station.
